I was checking out the standings of the point series and it looks like paddleboards are considered as kayaks. That doesn't seem right (although it's pretty impressive that someone can paddle one of those through whitewater!).

I agree with you, Fred, that it does seem an odd fit. Kayakers don't directly compete with SUP paddlers and vice versa. At present, there are not many SUP paddlers in our races, and we would love to have more. Regarding the Downriver Point Series, why not make a separate category for SUP?

You can't really have a category for one boat. In the old days, that was what the open class was for.

NECKRA (New England Canoe & Kayak Racing Association) treats them as canoes (they are single blades). We've only ever had 3 score points in the Downriver Series, but there are quite a few in the Flatwater series.
