Bob Dean passed away early Monday morning. Bob was a long time paddler and good friend to many in the paddling community in Maine and beyond. Bob will be missed whether it was getting beat by him in a paddle race, going for a long hike or just hearing of his many adventures. Bob requested that there be no funeral or memorial service so instead a group paddle is going to take place this Saturday Nov. 7th in honor of Bob. We will be meeting at 10:00 A.M. at the Megunticook Lake boat launch on Rt. 52 in Camden. This is the boat launch that was always the starting location for the Megunticook Lake race and is near the Maiden Cliff trailhead. Once gathered the decision will be made to either paddle on the lake or more protected river depending on wind conditions. This will just be a casual group paddle on waters that Bob frequently paddled. After the paddle everyone is welcome to gather at the Smokestack Grill in Camden. This formally was the Sea Dog. If you can’t make the paddle feel free to join the group at the Smokestack Grill after the paddle. Contact Dan Baumert at 207-249-9238 or dan.baumert@me.usda.gov if you have any questions
