howdy. Kenduskeag was down under 100 cfs today: what is the Machias like now? will it be bony?

Good question. I am wondering the same myself. Looking at the stream gages for that part of the state (St. Croix River Basin and Eastern River Basins) at waterdata.usgs.gov/me/nwis/current/?type=flow , it looks like just about everything is lower than normal for this time of year, so I am wondering if the same is true for the Machias. Hopefully, someone who knows that river better will post something here and let us know. |

My suspicion is that it will be bony. Excellent opportunity for newbies and families to see the river and experience a bit of whitewater in a very safe situation. Spread the word - family friendly, cookout at the finish (hosted by Dave Conley and folks from East Grand), and fun to be had by all. But you might want to bring a plastic boat!
