MaCKRO Women's Canoe Skills Clinic in Orono to kickoff
Monday Night Women's Paddle Group
Karen Francoeur of Castine Kayak will give a beginner whitewater canoe clinic on Monday 11th May at 4:30pm-approx 6:30pm.
TOPICS: Essential Equipment, Role of bow and stern paddlers, Boat Maneuvering with Finesse, Potential Hazards, Efficient Paddling in wind and current, what to do in event of capsize.
This is under the auspices of MaCKRO and we will be able to use their equipment but that means you need to be a member. You can sign up online or I will bring some forms. MaCKRO membership also allows use of the flatwater boats through the season so it's a great deal.
There is a fee for this clinic: we will divide it among us so more participants=cheaper. Estimate $15
We will start at Brownie's beach on the Stillwater but will meet at Jeff Owen's boatbarn: 26 Noyes Dr, Orono- just off Bennoch. MAP Park across the road by the river.
This location allows us to get used to the canoes as we paddle up to the whitewater.
Bring a PFD, paddle &/canoe if you have one and a change of (warm) clothes.

We hope to make this a regular women's paddle group and have some other instructional sessions lined up. If you are interested please ask to be added to the email list.
