Maine Whitewater Weekend, two days of big water and warm temps, is coming right up. The Souadabscook is set for Sat. April 18th and the Marsh Stream for Sun. April 19th. Both race directors could still use some volunteer help. For the Sou, there is still a need for up to 4 people to help, especially with the timing. If you would like to help contact Renee O'Donald at 848-3391. For the Marsh Stream, there is still a need for timers at the start and finish of the sprint races and at the finish of the downriver race. They need 2 people at the finish of both races and 2 at the start of the sprint. They also could use help with tidying up the snowmobile club at the end of the day. Volunteers for the sprints need to be at the Winterport Riverside Riders snowmobile club (10 Pine View Drive, Winterport) by 9 am; they would be finished by 11.30. The volunteers for the downriver race would be needed between 11.30 and 2.30 or whenever the last person finishes the race. Tidying up the snowmobile club would be after the awards around 3:00 or 3:30. Contact Liliane or Bill (lilianedeighan@gmail.com) or 234-2510 if you are willing help.
Both of these races are run by local paddlers and volunteers who have kept these races going. This is a great way for those who are not racing this weekend to be an important part of the these races and help to ensure their success.
