Just a quick reminder of some great upcoming races;
Thursday August 21 is the last Thursday evening races for 2014. This is also the last race in the MaCKRO flatwater series. Awards will be presented after the race for the C1, K1, C2, and K2 bragging rights races and the overall flatwater series. Vegetables could be included with the awards along with a special raffle prize for anyone who paddles Thursday night. Location is on the Stillwater in Orono, same as last week's race.
Saturday August 23rd is the Tour de Verona race around Verona Island. Start time is noon. This is a great open water marathon and the forecast calls for fair weather with relatively light winds which should make the ride not too rough on the south end of the island.
Saturday August 30 is the Ebb Tide Marathon on the Penobscot from Brewer to Winterport. Another good marathon on the Penobscot. Start time is 11:00 A.M. at the Brewer boat launch.
The Penobscot 50 that was tentatively scheduled for Sunday August 31st is canceled for this year. There was some interest but there are a lot of other paddling events happening at this time that would probably limit participation. There was enough interest in 50 mile events on either the Androscoggin, Kennebec, or Penobscot when initially proposed this year so that hopefully next year the planning for any of these events will start earlier and can be promoted better in Maine and throughout New England and be included in the race schedule early in the season.
Hope to see you on the water soon.

Correction for the Ebb Tide Marathon. The correct date is Sept. 20 and not Aug. 30. Sorry for any confusion.

Corrections for the start and finish of the Ebb Tide Marathon are shown below. The Save-A-Lot is just south of the Joshua Chamberlin bridge or just across from the Bangor water front.
EbbTide - Date: Sept. 20 Start: 11 am, from the lot behind Save-A-Lot, in Brewer End: South Orrington Boat Launch
