Hello, Since I live down here in LA (Lewiston/Auburn area) could anybody give me an idea of how the water level is on the East Machias and Machias Rivers? I ran them last year so how are things compared to 2012? Thanks.

I have no first hand knowledge, Ben, as there is no river gauge there. I do have info on the authority of the illustrious race director that the water level will be good, the weather exquisite, the company in attendance stimulating and no rattlesnakes.
Last year, following the Kenduskeag low water, we got some rain that boosted the flow for Machias races. This year is much more average anyway. These rivers drain large water sheds with large lakes and tend to have good flow into May.
I believe you will find the water very comparable to last year.

Thanks a ton! I am trying to figure out what gear to bring and reports like this are a huge help for those of us "from away".
