I love the idea of the virtual racing for the 2013 flat-water season. My job just does not allow me to follow the weeknight series so far from my home, but I would be able to participate virtually on either Megunticook Lake or Pemaquid Lake and would love to have others who may be closer to these two locations join me. I'm sure Bob Dean would also be racing these locations as well.

One way to facilitate sharing of results on virtual races may be to set up a Google Doc organized by date and race distance. Individual racers could post their own results to the common doc, which could be viewed by all, via a link on the MaCKRO site.
Each racer would need to have a Google email account, but the rest of it would be pretty simple to set up.

In addition to Virtual Racing, another club focus for 2013 is making any changes that might help get more women involved in paddling / racing. One suggestion in the January newsletter is to have a babysitting program available at races. One way of doing this would be for those with kids (and other volunteers) to take responsibility for a whole group of kids on a rotating basis. Racing 3 weeks of out of 4 sure seems better than not racing at all.
Please use this thread to toss out ideas or ask questions about virtual racing and getting more women involved in racing. Other suggestions for 2013 are also welcome.

We could even invite people in NECKRA to race us virtually........as long as they become members. ;-)
