MaCKRO folks,
The town of Gardiner has asked MaCKRO to assist with a paddle clinic as part of the Greater Gardiner River Festival from 2 to 4 P.M. on Saturday June 23rd. Laurie Stearns Clayton and Paula Cole and myself have been working with Gardiner in planning this event. MaCKRO is assisting the town with insurance coverage and will provide boats and instructors for the clinic. The actual paddle area for the clinic will be a relatively small area with the town providing safety boats in the water. The town will also do all of the promotion and registration involved with the clinic. MaCKRO's assistance at the event will be basic instructions in paddling and taking folks on a relatively short paddle (15 to 30 minutes). Participants will be signing up for certain time slots so there will be several group sessions during the 2 hour time period. If anyone can help out with this event that would be great. Anyone that could help out should bring any type rec canoe or kayak for participants to paddle. I realize this is a relatively short notice but it took some time for the town to get the insurance finalized and make other arrangements before they could say for sure the clinic would happen. Anyway, since there are no other races on the MaCKRO schedule on the 23rd hopefully some folks can come out and help. The event will take place somewhere on the water front park in Gardiner where the Cobbosseecontie enters the Kennebec. Let Laurie Stearns or myself know if you would like to help.
Thanks,
Dan Baumert
