With the unseasonably high temps and some rain this week, I was wondering if anybody had been out on their "local" rivers and/or streams? Hoping there might be some water, somewhere...Any ideas? Would love to take advantage of the warm temps this weekend.

Out of work early today. Maybe check out the St. George this afternoon. |

Just got off the Kenduskeag. It was GREAT. The water level (5.51' on the gauge) is plenty to run all the usual lines. In the top ten miles I saw two deer, two adult eagles, and a bunch of ducks. Passed one stealthy canoe containing a muzzleloader hunter and his guide, but they were miles and miles from the two deer! Other than that I had the whole river to myself. What a neat late-season treat!

The St. George is at a great level as well. A little tough to read the lines in some sections due to the the low angle of the late afternoon sun -- but paddling blind is good practice, right? Good current through the flatwater. We may go back for more on Saturday.
