Can anyone comment on the level/condition of the Passy? Should be pretty on Saturday, but given the coming snow I imagine many of us will be doing the race without a practice run.

We paddled the Passy yesterday (Thursday) and were able to make it down through without getting out of the kayaks. ;D In places the water is still moving pretty good and with the extra rocks, it feels fun and technical. In other places, it is hard not to scrape bottom or even get hung up in the shallows.
I spoke with Dale this morning. He has had a dam in place all week -- and that, plus any runoff(?) from this storm -- should help improve the level for the race on Saturday.
Keep in mind, however, that the water built up behind the dam is not what it has been in previous years as there simply has not been much water moving this week. Overall, we could be looking at one of the lowest levels we have seen on race day at the Passy in recent years.
The race will run as scheduled tomorrow! By the time it is over, the rocks on the Passy are likely to be more colorful than before we started.
