A message from Dale Cross today states the St. George River is open and free of ice.
Some folks are planning to run the river tomorrow (Tuesday afternoon):
Quoted from Dale's note: "The water is really high. There is a group going tomorrow, leaving 131 in Searsmont at 4:00 if anyone wants to go . . . The water is dropping about 6” a day but as I said before it is still high, so use caution."
I plan to run the river tomorrow also -- but maybe a little earlier, leaving Searsmont between 3:00 and 3:30 -- if anyone wants to shuttle and paddle on a bit earlier timetable.

Thanks for the update, Ray. Any word on the Passy? We drove over to run it this weekend, but she was still a few days out. Mostly ice in the flat sections...

Is anyone thinking of running the St George this weekend? Yes, I'm planning to run the St. George tomorrow around 11:00 AM or so. I ran the Passy today . . . it's at a great level. In a couple of places on the upper river I had to scoot along the shore to avoid the ice, but the ice is thinning and may be entirely out of the way by tomorrow.

The St. George is at a great level right now -- and the present level should hold for the race on Saturday. The river is still flooded back more than halfway to the parking lot at the start. Decent current in most of the flatwater. The standing waves aren't as huge as a week ago, and there are now some rocks to avoid, making it a little more interesting. Hope to see you at the race!
