All of you should have heard by now about the aggressive thrust MaCKRO is making this spring for exposure to new members.
We need members to support these upcoming events if we are to succeed in our goals - each member is expected to participate in these events in some way.
Paddle Smart starts at 5pm nest Saturday - 4/12 at the Bangor YWCA on 2nd St in Bangor.
This event has been getting plenty of media this month with an emphasis on the MaCKRO presence.
We need a number of volunteers to help Jeff Owen with the canoe racing workshops, man the MACKRO booth, talk to the public about our club and sign up new members. We had a very positive event here last spring.
MaCKRO Membership meeting and Open House. Sea Dog restaurant - Bangor 1-3pm 4/19 .... after the race before the award ceremony.
This is the largest annual gathering of people who have a demonstrated interest in our sport. If we cant drum up some new members and renew existing members at this then nothing else is going to work.
We need door prizes- merchandise, gift certificates, etc - all members and new members that attend will be included in a drawing.
New members can join MaCKRO for an unheard of $5! at the two events.
There are a handful of members do the majority of MACKRO work. The rest show up at races and complain that the sport is shrinking.
MaCKRO members must show up to demonstrate that our club is valid and interesting. Or... do nothing and watch it spiral slowly into irrelevance.
There will be a planning meeting at the SeaDog this Tuesday eve from 6:30 to 9.
Attendance is mandatory for all current MACKRO officers and past presidents.
