Paddled the St. George from Searsmont to Appleton yesterday. Saw a couple of rafts and a whitewater kayaker on the river as well. The level is as high as I have seen it -- all the way (and I mean ALL THE WAY) up to the parking lot at the start. What fun! Lots of waves, very few rocks. No strainers to worry about. There is one downed tree extending across the river in a flatwater section about 1.5 miles from the put in. We slid right over it, but it may become more of an obstacle when the river level drops. No ice shelves like what we saw last year.
Canoes will want flotation, I would think. The waves are big (and cold) upstream of the Ghent Road bridge.

Any pics for us, Ray? Sounds like the water level was a blast...
