I've acquired a set of splash rails for the bow of my boat, and I was wondering what type adhesive works best to attach them? It's a 17' Royalex Penobscot with mostly "stock" outfitting.
Also, being fairly new to the "downriver racing" scene, are there any other outfitting tricks/tips that you may be willing to share with a "newbie"?
Thanks for the help, and see you all at the Passy!

Others can chime in about canoe outfitting. here are a few essentials for kayakers: (1) helmet (bike helmet works if you don't have a paddling helmet). (2) tight fitting spray skirt (neoprene is better than nylon) (3) bow and stern flotation bags (if your kayak doesn't have bulkheads) (4) bow and stern grab lines (helpful in case of capsize/rescue) (5) name & phone number on boat and paddle

Hi Logan - Jeff Owen could tell you about the adhesive. I thought he used rubber contact cement but can't quite recall. Jeff and Clayton Cole put together a nice "outfitting and prepping workshop" at last year's Paddle Smart event in Bangor, and it looks like Jeff is going to do this workshop again next Friday at Paddle Smart (Husson University, 6pm). I'd recommend it if you are in the area! Don't know if this helps, but I condensed a lot of the "outfitting and prepping" notes from last year's workshop and posted them on this page last spring: www.kenduskeagstreamcanoerace.com/information/index.html
