Pushaw Lake Day Paddle Race
On Sunday May 31st a paddle race will be help on Pushaw Lake as part of the day long Pushaw Lake Day. The race will take place from Lakeside Landing (Glenburn) with an 8 mile and 3 mile distance options. This is a flatwater race that will be part of the MaCKRO flatwater series and includes a wide variety of boats and class options that should enable the experience to the casual recreational paddler the opportunity to participate. Registration will open at 7:30 A.M. with the race starting at 9:00 A.M. There will be two waves of starts 3 to 5 minutes apart with the rowing shells starting first followed by the remaining classes. Both the 8 and 3 mile races will start at Lakeside Landing and will go northwest along the western shore of the lake. Lakeside Landing is off of the Pushaw on the west side of the lake in Glenburn. All classes and race costs are listed below.
In addition to the 9:00 A.M. race there will be a separate shorter youth race/buoy challenge for all ages under 12 years old. This will be a short loop course just around the cove next to the beach at Lakeside Landing that will take place immediately after the awards for longer race are completed around 11:30. The youth race will be very informal and more of a paddle challenge to negotiate buoy turns on a short course. The course will be open and supervised for an hour that any youth could run any time during the hour. There will be no charge for the youth race. For any questions concerning any of the races contact Dan Baumert @ 207-249-9238.
