The inaugural running of the Kenduskeag Sprint is this Sunday. What better way to loosen sore muscles and work up an appetite for Easter Dinner?!?!?! Orono High School's GoActive! racing team is hosting this informal event and the team is hopeful that many MaCKRO members and guests will show up to compete and volunteer. The water level by Sunday noon should be great!

I will be there Jeff.
This is the site of the Kenduskeag Slalom race on May 3 & 4. Try this sprint, and consider attending the slalom race in a few weeks. The weather and water will be delightful. You will have a chance to meet some skilled WW paddlers and try a new type of paddling in a safe environment. Laurie Sproul will host a beginners clinic, and there will be a less challenging course for beginners. There will be a combined downriver/slalom race aimed at MaCKRO downriver paddlers. Race 20 minutes from Bull's Eye Bridge to shopping cart Sat at 4 pm, then combine that time with the better of 2 slalom runs on Sunday. You have to use the same boat in both events.
I will be putting up a few wires and strings across the river at Shopping cart Sunday before &/or after the race, to hang some gates on in preparation of a Bill Green's ME Outdoors feature on slalom racing. Bill will be in Bangor on wed. 4/30 to record video of paddlers in slalom gates for broadcast the next week.
