"Back in the day". I used to paddle with and against George Walsh. We decided the famed Ocoee River could be done (by a couple of Maine paddlers) in a Mad River Explorer if we filled it with air bags. Off to Tennessee! Wow! What a ride! Lots of high braces! We took on some water and stopped to empty the boat twice. We did not dump. The U.S. wildwater team had the level up for training. George Walsh is one of the best white water paddlers. He is 90 years old now. He won two gold medals last week at The Senior Games in Ohio racing bicycles. He was 66 when we did this. Check out the pics below. I don't think too many "rockerless" canoes have done this paddle. It puts the Dead River into perspective. We tested our plan on the Kennebec River before we headed south. The pics are not perfectly in order. I have done my best remembering. Enjoy and plan to do it! s598.photobucket.com/user/gfatula/slideshow/Ocoee%20River
