I'll be visiting the area this weekend for a friends 3pm Saturday wedding in Bangor. Hoping to sneak in a paddle or two while I am in the area ;D
By the map, it looks like the Kenduskeag Stream, Rt. 15 (Six Mile Falls) to Bangor section, is the closest II/III run to where I will be lodging. Not sure that will come up enough by the weekend to run. Anyone going someplace nearby that is willing to allow me to tag along? I'm available Sat and/or Sun morning.
I'm an intermediate WW/K1 short boat (plastic Dagger GT 8.1) paddler with SWR and WFA course experience if that helps ease your mind any. I've just started making a come back from recent shoulder surgery and need to get out to help get my mojo back (ie - need seat time). Thanks - Lora

Does anyone know of any other groups that I should be trying to get in touch with that regularly paddle somewhere within an hours drive of Bangor by chance? Really need to get some seat time in In addition, is there anyone around that would like to do a mini skills session on some nearby on flatwater or a park n play spot or something/anything then?

Lora - Check out the Penobscot Paddle and Chowder Society's site (http://www.paddleandchowder.org/). It looks like they have a couple of events scheduled Saturday. Depending on your level of experience, the Dead may be a really fun trip for you, but 3500cfs is pretty high for a first trip. If you're looking to stay closer to Bangor, they have another group paddling on the Penobscot.
Contact the trip coordinators through their site for more info.

Hi again. It looks like you posted a message on the PPCS board already...I would still contact the trip coordinator directly, if you're interested in getting out with that group. You may also find some paddlers on the Souadabscook this weekend. I have no idea what the current water level is, but it's a pretty popular run, and just a few minutes south of Bangor. The Sou offers something for most skill levels, but be aware of the bigger drops. Details here: www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/902/. Perhaps someone else more local can chime in on the current conditions? Happy paddling.

Thanks Logan, I did not see the the Penobscot trip when I looked at the PPCS boards earlier. I will go check that out. The Dead is too far away for this trip - hope to catch that another time though. Souadabscook looks to be above my current skill level :/ I'll get there someday
