Didn't know how else to contact Fred or anyone with information about Earl's Falcon design. I was wondering how close it will perform to other boats in the touring class (Epic 18x or QCC 700). I have a chance to trade towards one and wanted to know if it was much quicker than his Extinguisher? Thanks to anyone with imput. -Ben

Ben: I paddled one only once and liked it. I would have kept the time on my 4-mile course; I'll look later and see if I can find the time and do a comparison of other race boats (it was 15 or so years ago, so . . . ) I can't compare it to any of the boats you mentioned, however. I definitely would want the Falcon over the Extinguisher.

That would really help Fred. I can't find any information on the internet. I am trying to decide between the Falcon and a WSBS Seafarer Sprint.

I time-trialed Bob Dean's Falcon 11 years ago and found it to be about 8 seconds a mile slower than a wildwater kayak. I also found it to be about 15 seconds per mile slower than a 14' 9" flatwater kayak called a Dart. The Falcon would be much more "user friendly" than either of these other boats; it almost makes me want to go find one! : )

Thanks Fred! Clearly I asked the right person for help on this. Thanks for taking the time to find those old records. I really appreciate it. -Ben
