Has anybody done this? I have an old, beat up air rower with decent resistance and I'd love to be able to get a single blade workout on it. Fred's post looking for a dead paddle piqued my interest.
There's a respectable adapter for the Concept2 rower, but my rower is some junky brand. I do have plenty of bailing wire, duct tape, old tires, etc.

I made mine out of an old NordicTrac. Far from perfect, but functional. I modeled mine after the PaddleOne canoe ergometer because they both use a flywheel and a bungee cord to rewind the cord attached to the paddle.

Thanks for the info. So for changing sides, did you make something like the hinged arm on the PaddleOne? I was thinking it would be easier for my machine to do a sliding pulley, but I'd have to find nice hardware.

My rope exits the machine through a large screw eye. And the rope is long enough (meaning that I sit far enough away from the machine) that I can switch sides without any kind of pivoting mechanism.
