MaCKRO ANNUAL MEETING
February 9, 2008
Skowhegan, Maine
The annual meeting was held with twelve members present: John Alsop,
Chip Loring, Don Wescott, thingy Hanson, Brad Ryder, Bob Miller, Jeff Owen,
Earl Baldwin, Terry Wescott, Mike Sproul, Clayton Cole, and Bill Deighan.
Officers for 2008 were elected:
President: John Alsop
Vice President: Jeff Owen
Secretary: Earl Baldwin
Treasurer: Bob Miller
WW Chairman: Clayton Cole
FW Chairman: To be elected later. John A. and Jeff O. will prepare a FW
schedule.
WW Chairman Clayton Cole reported:
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Sea Dog in
Bangor.
The WW Point Series is discontinued for lack of interest.
The WW Schedule has been established:

*Mike Sproul stated that the Sebec may be changed to Bangor Harbor.
Clayton proposed that we join the Paddle America Club which is
administered by ACA New England. It provides low cost liability
insurance for MaCRO sponsored races. ACA members could then sign only one
waiver form for each season and also save payment of the insurance fee
for each race. Voted to donate $50.
Newsletter:
Since NO UMBRELLA is not publishing this year, we will not be publishing
a newsletter. John A. will ask Paula Lunt if she will produce an updated
race director's handbook.
Website:
Ray Wirth has offered to design and maintain a new website. John A. will
contact Jim Santerre regarding the transfer.
Dues:
Voted that dues for 2008 will be $20 for individual (and immediate
family), but that new sign-ups (not renewals or catch-ups) at our Paddle
Smart exhibit will be $5.
Annual meeting date:
It was discussed that our annual meeting should be earlier in January if
possible.
Equipment:
John A. and Jeff O. will investigate the possibilities of acquiring ,
storing, maintaining, and transporting boats, paddles, PFDs, etc. for the
organization.
Clinton Relay:
Voted for MaCKRO to sponsor a team and pay for entry fees and T-shirts.
Paddle Smart:
At Bangor YMCA 5:00- 9:00 April 12, the Saturday before the Kenduskeag.
We will display a couple of boats and have a booth; host three half hour
workshops in separate rooms (not the pool) to demonstrate techniques,
outfitting, and training. Jeff O. and Gary Brooks need more people to
help. See Dues above.
Epic Sports:
Brad Ryder of Epic Sports in Bangor asked for feedback re equipment that
meets our needs and desires for his guidance in stocking such items.
Meetings:
The next meeting will be at the Sea Dog in Bangor on April 19 after the
race and before the awards.
Later meetings will be at the end of the WW season, at the end of the FW
season, and sometime in the fall.
Meeting adjourned.
